Today's question comes from Mary-Kate in good 'ole Savannah, GA! Mary-Kate writes:
"I LOVE shopping. Like, a lot. My wedding is next year (October to be exact), and I have already been to three shops to try on dresses. Everyone keeps telling me that I need to go ahead and buy my dress but I'm really enjoying this experience and don't want to stop yet! What should I do? Does this happen a lot? Thanks, ladies! *hugz*"
Well, Ms. Mary-Kate we appreciate you leaning on us for advice! We definitely have some words of wisdom to impart!
First and foremost, congrats on your engagement! We know wedding planning can be very exhilarating and intense. And for some, it's the ultimate shopping experience. We also know, however, the more dresses you try on, the more confusing and frustrating this process can become. In all honesty, trying on too many dresses happens all too often.
Something we tell our brides here: "Don't be afraid to fall in love." Most girls love more than one dress, but there is only one they are in love with.
Mary-Kate, if you've found a dress you're in love with, you should purchase it. There is still plenty of shopping left to do for your wedding. You still have bridesmaids, tuxedos, cake, linens, venue, flowers, mother-of-the-bride,.....the list goes on and on.
If you haven't found a dress you are in love with, keep shopping. BUT don't go shopping with the intention of "just trying on." Put yourself in the mindset to be able to fall in love. Think of it this way: If you had been "just shopping" when your fiance came into your life, could you have possibly missed him?
Thank-you so much for writing us, Mary-Kate. *hugz* back at ya! ;)
