How to Say "I Do"- Tuxedos
Hello! We hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!
Today we want to switch gears a bit and talk about tuxedos. Choosing the best tux for your wedding party is just as important as selecting your bridesmaids dresses. An ill-fitting tux can literally suck the joy out of your wedding photos. Okay, maybe we're being a little melodramatic, but a tux that fits correctly really does make a difference.
Is it just us or does this look like the 90's had a love child with bad formal wear? Poor guy.
Now that we've covered the small, big, and could have been oh so sexy, let's hit on what a tuxedo should look like. To do this, let's talk about the cut of the tux. Generally, they come in three "fits".
The Classic or Traditional fit pretty much looks good on most guys. The two biggest considerations with this style are: 1) It's common, so if you're wanting a tailored look, this might not be for you. 2) It can be "boxy" on men with large shoulders or larger tummies.
The Modern fit has become the most popular fit tux. It is moderately tailored without feeling restrictive. It shows more of the shirt/vest so it works well if you're wanting more color in your wedding party.
The Slim fit is perfect if you've got a group of guys who have athletic builds. It offers a strong tailored look, but can feel snug on some men. Keep in mind that a slim fit can work for larger guys, but the jacket size may need to be adjusted. If you select a slim fit tux, it is imperative your groomsmen try it on before they leave the shop.
Thank you, Wolverine. Perfection. This modern fit tux shows the perfect amount of sleeve and the bow-tie is impeccable.
You don't have to have the body of a Greek God to look great in a classic cut tuxedo- if only he had fixed that collar/bow-tie.
There are so many more factors to consider, but for these beginning stages of picking the right tux for your wedding try to focus on these concepts. Come in and see us and we can help you put your vision together!
